Reunion Adasi merkezli SRI MADAGASKAR Operasyonu, Malezya Komünüte Organizasyonu olan TEFY SAINA’ya finansal destek saglama ve Pirinç Entansifikasyon Sistemi (SRI) ile tarimsal biyolojinin basin ve diger bilgilendirici materyaller ile proje ve ortakliklar kadar iyi bir sekilde yayilmasini desteklemektedir.

2008 yilinda Madagaskar'dan toplam 3.000.000 metrik ton pirinç elde edilmistir. Hektar basina 2 ton ortalama verim alinarak bu ürün elde edilmistir. Fakat yerli üretimin düsüs içinde oldugu gözlemlenmektedir. Ve ülke talebini karsilamak için her yil 200.000 ton ithalat gerekmektedir. Bu durum sadece tarim sektörü için geçerli degil. Madagaskar ciddi bir gida sikintisi çekmektedir. Nüfusunun %80'inin 1 euro'nun altinda günlük ücretle geçinmektedir.

1980'lerde bir Fransiz tarim uzmani olan Henri de Laulanié, Madagaskar'li köylülerle bir çalisma baslatmistir. Çalismanin amaci geleneksel pirinç yetistirme yöntemlerini gelistirmek, modern yöntemlerle gelenekseli harmanlamak ve günümüzde bilinen haliyle SRI tekniklerini uygulamaya baslamak olmustur. SRI yapisal olarak basit birkaç teknikten olusmaktaydi. Bunlar: pirinç filizlerinin (fide de olabilir) erken dikilmesi (ya da yesillendirilmesi), belirli bir düzende pirinç fidelerinin yesillendirilmesi, çeltiklerin kismi kurutulmasi. SRI tamamen organiktir. Bu sekilde çiftçilerin pahali gübre ve de tarim ilaci almaktan da kurtulmalari saglanmaktadir.

SRI 30 ülkeden fazla, milyonlarca çiftçi tarafindan kullanilmaktadir. SRI tekniklerinin gösterildigi ve uygulandigi yerlerde senede iki hatta bazen üç kere ürün elde edilmistir.

Madagaskar'da 1.721.000’e yakin pirinç yetistiricisinin sadece 65.000’i %3 'ü SRI tekniklerini kullanmaktadir. SRI yöntemini kullanmaya baslayanlar zamanla kendi kendilerine yetecek hale geleceklerdir hatta ihracata bile baslayacaklardir.

1990'dan beri TEFY SAINA yerel pirinç yetistiricileri için çalisti. Fakat Madagaskar’daki birçok organizasyon gibi o da finansman sikintisi çekmektedir.

MADAGASKAR SRI operasyonu 1 Mayis'la 25 Haziran arasinda Mayotte'de, 2-15 Haziran arasinda da Reunion Adasinda basladi. Bu egitim sayesinde TEFY SAINA bilincini artirmak ve SRI ve buna benzer organizasyonlara destek alarak, Madagaskar'in kalkinmasini saglamak amacindayiz.

Bu girisim sirasinda gerçeklesen iliskiler ve degerli bilgi degisimlerinin isiginda OPERATION SRI MADAGASCAR ve TEFY SAINA Mayotte, Reunion ve Madagaskar adalari arasindaki ortakligin uzun vadeye aktarilmasini amaçlamaktadir. TEFY SAINA Mayotte ve Reunion’daki tarimsal biyoloji egitimindeki artan talebi karsilamak için birçok egitim merkezinde asagidaki alanlarda kurslar sunmaktadir:

Tarimsal biyoloji, yeniden agaçlandirma, organik gübreleme teknikleri, malçlama, birbirini tamamlayan mahsuller, ürün rotasyonu, organik pestisitler, oksijen bazli sürüm, entansif pirinç tarimi, su ikmali ve sulama, alet yapimi, ekolojik yapilar.

Su anda asagida tanitilan merkezlerin hepsi ögrenci, çiftçi ve diger ilgili kisileri egitim için konuk edebilmektedir. OPERATION SRI MADAGASCAR tarafindan gerçeklestirilen bölgesel ortaklik ve para toplama aktiviteleri TEFY SAINA’nin istiraklerince sunulan kurslarin kalitesini arttirdigi gibi daha büyük gruplarin da konuk edilmesine olanak saglayacaktir.

Bu egitimler üç ada ülkenin çiftçilerini karsilikli yararli bir çevrede bulusturmak gibi bir avantaja da sahiptirler. Nihayetinde, bu tür karsilikli iliskiler çogunlukla Büyük Ada olarak da bilinen Madagaskar’in gidasal açidan kendine yeterli bir ülke olmasi hedefi dogrultusunda Madagaskar’daki yerel tarimi güçlendirmeye de yardimci olacaktir.

Zoma's primary mission is to help poor Malagasy families living in urban centers to achieve the dream of a rural livelihood by giving them a year-long training in farming techniques. To this end, the organization runs a training center called CEFOTAM (Center for the Training and Transition of Migrant Farmers) 250 kilometers West of Antananarivo, in Tsiroanomandidy county. They also run a welcome center in Ankazobe, 150 kilometers North of the capital, where migrant families who have completed their training move to begin their lives as farmers on a 6,000 hectare government concession.

> CHAMP-ECOLE ("Field School" created in 2005) Ivato - Ambositra

The Field School is a rolemodel for non-mechanized farming and land management enacted on more than 25 hectares on the outskirts of Antananarivo. It provides an example for creative land use and soil improvement in a region with poor soil and a chaotic landscape as well as water supply and irrigation for home and farm use and growing variety of edible and medicinal plants organically. On a small scale, this site offers a paradigm for sustainable development in the region, and is available for research and training in many areas.

> TAF, 85 kilometers East of Antananarivo

TAF is a site for agricultural and eco-tourism that welcomes tourists in a family setting with an emphasis on traditional Malagasy culture. It offers training opportunities of two days, two weeks, or two months in organic gardening, rice cultivation, and animal husbandry.

> TATA (Young Pillars of a Rural World) 25km of Tananarive

The headquarters of TATA are the center of vermiculture (raising earthworms) for all of Madagascar. They breed and sell Eisenia foetida earthworms, the high-quality compost which makes this species of worm famous, and various biopesticides, as well as offering training in agrobiology and reforestation.

> TAOEZAKA I ("Courageous Undertaking") in the heart of Fianarantsoa

Research center and builder's workshop for 'adaptive technologies'--simple items for the household and for schools, as well as varied pieces of agricultural equipment--all made using materials cheaply and widely available in Madagascar. Taoezaka I specializes in equipment for composting, gardening, water pumps and irrigation, and tools adapted for SRI.

> TAOEZAKA II 20 kilometers north of Antananarivo

This is ATS's headquarters for development, demonstration, and popular education in SRI and agrobiology. It is a reference for rural technology of the home and the kitchen as well as for agrobiology techniques. The site has an extensive library specialized in related fields as well as prototypes of innovative equipment for housekeeping and cottage industries as well as agriculture and rice cultivation. Taoezaka II offers practical courses in twelve modules:

Coordination and facilitating, environment, water, agrobiology, SRI and grains, craftsmanship for men and women, ovens and stoves, nutrition, alternative medecine, animal husbandry, conservation, and canning and food processing.

> LAULANIE GREEN UNIVERSITY Ambanja, Region of Diana and Antanannarivo

Laulanié is an ecological university devoted to agriculture and ecotourism offering 'training for trainers' (Baccalaureat + two years or equivalent) in agriculture, companion agriculture courses for students and for peasant farmers, training in rural village-based or ecotourism, and a course in Malagasy cuisine privileging healthy eating and local ingredients. LGU seeks to ensure an education that unites diet and health with the principles of sustainable agriculture.

These training centers are soon to become part of the WWOOF network www.wwoof.org so that they can welcome a wider public from around the world.
